The Demise of Mr. Peanut - Maybe Not

We all remember before CoVid19, the big news in Wilkes-Barre was the supposed demise of Mr. Peanut. Many theories abounded ahead of the Super Bowl; but now we all know Mr. Peanut has returned much younger and ready to provide quality nuts to the world.

Back in January we were visited by two news crews. WFMZ 69 from Allentown and WNEP 16 from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Click on either button to see the story at each station’s website.

While we’re remembering Mr. Peanut, sometime ago, Mike Stevens went down The Pennsylvania Road to find Mr. Peanut.

This story may be a little late hitting the barber shop’s website; but I beg forgiveness as the world has been a little crazy since we hit the bit 2020.

Back in November, Jon Meyer from WNEP Channel 16 stopped by as he was On the Pennsylvania Road. He visited the barber shop, talked to some customers and checked out the memorabilia in the shop.

It was a fun day and truly memorable.

Carey's Avenue Barber Shop Provides Haircuts To The Wyoming Valley Rescue Mission

The Wyoming Valley Rescue Mission provides meals and a message to the homeless in Wilkes-Barre, PA every week.  They also run a 9 to 12 month program called the Life Change Program in order to get homeless men back on their feet. At the barber shop in Wilkes-Barre, we also provide hair cuts to these men as they go through the program. It was my pleasure to once again cut hair for the men of the Wyoming Valley Rescue Mission. Thanks Shawn Pratt for bringing them to the shop on December 29th. Click on the image below to learn more about the rescue mission.
